Eedenin puutarha - The garden of Eden

I have used almost every salt soap I´ve made and of course I had to make some more before I run out of them. I have really, really liked the salt soaps with goji berries. I´ve have washed my face both mornings and evenings with it and I don´t need to use any lotions or cremes. In the winter my skin can feel a little bit dry and then I use some aloe vera gel.

This salt soap is a mixture of my own and other soap makers ideas. I dared to use beef tallow because Emily also uses it. And I got the of infusing several different herbs from Cee´s facial soap. First I thought that I would only infuse plantain into coconut oil like Saippuakukka has done.

The name of the soap, The garden of Eden, was obvious because this soap contains so many different good things. As liquid I used a mixture of coconut milk, butter milk and soy milk. I infused green tea, chamomile, lavender, calendula and crushed goji berries. The fragrance oil I used is called "Hiljaisuus"- Silence. I got it as a sample when I ordered other fragrances. I think it smells very calming, like fruits, berries, flowers and a little bit of spice. The scent description is quite different: fresh, clean, calming wood scent. I put a little too much liquid soap color, but I was lucky that the lather did not turn green. The soaps went through gel phase quite fast, but they did not heat too much.

Tarkka ohje on seuraava:

308 g uutettua kookosöljyä (78 %)
45 g kaakaovoita (11 %)
45 g naudanrasvaa (11 %)

  1. Hienot uudet kuosit sivuillasi, sointuvat upeasti viimeisen päivityksen kuviin!

  2. What a beautiful colour (what did you use?), I adore this turquoise/ teal! So fresh, summer-y and uplifitng! And the background fits perfectly with your new header image!
So,... new salt soap. I have tried mine (with pink Himalayan salt) and will give it a little more to cure, up to two months. I'm surprised to know that you use it twice a day, I wash my face with soap only in the evening, despite of having oily/combinaton skin. I find once is enough!
The soap is beautiful and I like the name! Report back with your impressions on this new one!

    1. Thanks :) I used a liquid green soap color that I bought from a Finnish store. I think they buy it from GF.
I use the soap twice a day now in the summer because my skin, especially the forehead, gets oily and my makeup does not stick.

  3. The color is very nice, and the formula is lovely too! OMG, you remind me again to make some salt bars as my last soap was from last year! Thanks for the recipe, Marika, I would like to try a different one than the one I tested.

    1. Thank you Natalia. I was also reminded of salt soap when I red about Cee´s facial soap. I have only a tiny piece of a salt soap in the bathroom and one that is a bit bigger in the shower so it should last for 1-2 months so these new soaps will cure.

  4. Oh, that's so pretty...I love the green color! It sounds like it has so many soothing ingredients in it, and I love the combination of milks you chose for it! I've seen coarse sea salt at my local soap supply store, have you tried it or do you prefer the fine ground?

    1. Thanks :) i like them too =)
Yes, Ive tried coarse sea salt, but I prefer fine because I think it is easier to soap with it and you get the same amount of salt in each soap.

  6. Very nice Marika! I have not tried soaping with salt yet. Your salt bars sound and look really nice. I can't wait to hear how much you like using them :)
